Meet Meagan Becker

Hi, I'm Meagan (Nelson) Becker, wife, mom, and a pro-active Bountiful resident. I love Elephant Rock, going to the park with our four amazing daughters, hanging flower baskets, meeting with other residents who care about our community, and Bountiful in general.

Bountiful is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, but we can, and should, make it better.
The more business growth and responsible development our city can attract, the more tax-dollars we keep as a city. The more tax-revenue we retain, the more money we have available to maintain roads, parks, a strong police force, and beautification projects ... all while keeping personal property taxes and fees low.
And that all translates into a better life for each of us.

From the first time my husband, Benjamin Becker, took me home (from BYU-Provo) to Bountiful to meet his family, I knew this city was a special place. There is an exemplary feeling of community identity, respect, and mutual cooperation that made me want to raise our family here. I was again impressed by Bountiful's community spirit, which was in full force during the clean-up of the December 2011 windstorm. I was proud to call Bountiful home.

My first full-time reporting job was for the CBS station in Butte, Montana. I loved covering the 2004 general and local election, but wondered why more people were not involved. Our democratic process is wonderful, but without participation, we end up with the same group of people keeping the status-quo and limiting new ideas and perspectives.

While in Butte, I worked with the city's redevelopment agency to strengthen the uptown commercial district. During this time, I learned key-points on attracting businesses to a community, and, that, unfortunately, not all elected officials put the best interest of the community first. Bountiful's best interest is my only interest.

While attending graduate school, and later teaching at San Francisco State University during the 2008 election, our family was involved in a grass-roots, door-to-door campaign. This experience taught me the importance of standing strong for values, family, and the democratic process - even when it is very unpopular. I learned that every person's voice matters, and each vote counts.

I served as a full-time sister missionary in the China, Hong Kong mission, and speak Cantonese. I love Bountiful. I'm thrilled to live here, and feel privileged to raise our children in such a great community. I'm approachable, eager to hear your concerns, and find solutions. Thank you for your time and support, together we can make Bountiful even better.
