Mueller Park Canyon

Thanks for visiting beckerforbountiful.com
Please check out the tabs at the top to learn more about who Meagan Becker is, what she stands for, and how to get involved.

Our family loves Mueller Park Canyon. My husband, Benj Becker, has fond memories of long summer days spent exploring the canyon. The night before we were married, we went up Mueller Park Canyon to talk about our future, fears, dreams, and expectations.

Recently, Benj and I took advantage of family staying with us (and early-morning free babysitting), to hike to Elephant Rock. We woke up at 5:30 am, and were back right as the kids were waking up - a breathtaking and invigorating way to start the day!

But Mueller Park Canyon has changed over the years. Prices to enter have risen, and the intended gift from the Mueller family to the city of Bountiful has been sold, and is now part of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Service.

I spoke with Iris Young, a Bountiful resident for over 40 years who also loves Mueller Park Canyon, about her more recent negative experience. You can read her editorial in the Davis County Clipper here:  http://davisclipper.com/view/full_story/21975615/article-Are-we-unwelcome-in-Mueller-Park-Canyon-

Here's my question, what roll do you think the city of Bountiful has in keeping Mueller Park Canyon an accessible, and friendly local venue?
Should the city push to lower entrance fees to Mueller Park Canyon, or perhaps subsidize them all together?
If the cost was less, would you use Mueller Park Canyon more?
